Ruger LCP Extractor Polishing
You have two choices for polishing the
Ruger LCP extractor. You can either remove it from the slide and polish
it or polish it in place.

Removing The Ruger LCP Extractor
Removing it may not be as easy as it sounds. There is not much
information on the proper way to do it. If you research the internet gun
forums you will likely find that the consensus is to NOT REMOVE IT unless
you know you definitely have a problem with it and it needs repair or
replacement. Besides if you can clean and polish it in place, there is
frequently no need to remove the extractor from the slide. Update - I
eventually removed, cleaned and polished my extractor. Here is the procedure

Why Would You Want To Polish The Extractor?
Polishing will make it smooth and remove burrs, build-up
and sharp edges from the extractor surface and allow it to operate more
efficiently.
Polishing The LCP Extractor In Place
Polishing without removing it from the slide is easy.
These are the steps that I took to polish mine while it was still installed
in the slide.

Use a
Jewelers loupe or magnifying glass
to examine the face of the extractor. Inspect for any burrs or marks.

Cover the firing pin opening so dirt/debris cannot
get into it. I cut and folded a piece of paper then placed it over the
opening as shown in the pictures. I did not tape the opening because of
the stick residue I would have to remove.

Cut a small piece of 600 grit sandpaper and roll it
into a small tube so that it will fit inside the LCP slide and contact
only with the extractor face.

Using 600 grits sandpaper, lightly sand the face of
the extractor to remove the imperfections and make it smooth and shiny.
Follow with 1000 grit sandpaper (not really required).

After you are satisfied with your polishing efforts
and the ejector face is smooth and free of imperfections remove any
residue with a spray of Gun Blast or other gun cleaning spray. Use
compressed air to spray dry then oil and protect the extractor with a
light coat of gun oil being sure not get any in or near the firing pin
opening. Clean and lubricate the rest of the slide.

Reassemble the pistol and test the functioning of
the extractor using dummy rounds loaded from the magazine.
